Plans for fast track investments in 60 km of the Attica coastline
Incentives for tourist and real estate investments in sixty kilometers of the Attica coastline, from Faliro to Sounio, are planned to be provided by the Greek government.
According to the website ‘imerisia.gr’, the basic idea consists in using the benefits derived from the “Elliniko” project, (redevelopment of the area formerly occupied by the Athens International airport) by transforming the seaside, and creating hotel facilities, tourist villages and marinas.
Towards this direction the Greek Ministry of Environment is elaborating fast track procedures for the integration of these areas in city plans. Transportation infrastructure projects are also to be included in the plans, mainly the new motorway connecting the beach to the airport.
The Ministry is planning to start the procedure for launching a comprehensive study of the entire waterfront by the beginning of 2013.
The implementation of the program, as announced from the Ministry, will be undertaken by a new company called "Attica Front Coastal S.A."
